EHS Technician – Temporary Position

What You Will Do at Aptar Pharma:

Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Technician supports environmental, health and safety initiatives, strategies, ergonomic reviews and investigations at our site. Please note this is a Temporary Opportunity.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supports EHS reporting activities, including tracking and monitoring KPIs, as well as individual project and regular program updates.
  • Monitors regulatory compliance updates and trends by gathering relevant information and creating reports.
  • Supports compliance with internal corporate policy/programs and external regulatory requirements through program implementation, policy updates, employee training, and other initiatives.
  • Provides support across various functional teams to help drive awareness and accountability for environmental, health, and safety performance through all levels of the organization.
  • Supports on-site assessments, demonstrations, develops acumen for accident prevention and identifying opportunities to reduce environmental, safety and health liabilities, including awareness for environmental and safety prevention and protection, and other regulatory issues.
  • Supports vendor coordination, related administrative duties and other activities as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal EHS standards and with all company policies.
  • Monitor facilities and processes for adherence to OSHA/EPA guidelines and the elimination of incidents. Evaluates procedures as related to EHS.
  • Investigates all safety related incidents.
  • Performs in-house training regarding site EHS and EHS-related regulations.
  • Writes site-specific health and safety plans and job-specific JSA’s.
  • Performs site safety audits on a regular basis.
  • Assists field personnel in complying with federal, state and local regulations pertaining to safety.
  • Conducts new hire EHS orientations and on-boarding.
  • Proactively seeks new ways to improve overall safety performance and employee well-being.
  • Assists management in generating new policies and/or procedures related to safety.
  • Communicates clearly; interactively with workforce.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Identify trends that could affect objectives and/or operational resources; advise accordingly.
  • Works effectively as a team member, team leader and with all members of the organization.
  • Works in accordance with predetermined safety, GMP and quality standards
  • Serve as a resource to the production team as EHS questions or issues arise.

What Aptar Pharma Is Looking For:

  • Associates degree in Occupational Safety or related technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in environmental, health and safety
    program management and employee training.
  • Certification in: CSP (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial
    Hygienist, CHMN (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or equivalent professional certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current industry standards (OSHA 1910, NFPA, etc.).
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing industry, state, and environmental, health, and safety requirements (understanding with Pharma and Biomedical a plus).
  • Successful record of implementing and guiding teams to achieve a common goal.
  • Strong project coordination, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to consistently work in accordance with predetermined safety, quality, method and sequencing standards and adhere to and follow all requirements.
  • Proven computer proficiency.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to conduct training classes.
  • Ergonomic knowledge.
  • Ability to travel to other sites for training, audits or other EHS support projects
  • Must be flexible and able to work different hours, including weekends and off shifts as required
  • Interest in a temporary opportunity

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual may encounter when working in a manufacturing setting and the EHS Technician role.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to walk and stand, sit, bend, stoop, or crouch.
  • The individual is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach/pull with hands and arms; occasionally climb.
  • Individual will regularly lift objects of no greater than 50 pounds.
  • An individual may be required to climb in and out of forklifts and operate dollies.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Individual must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Individual must be able to speak and hear and detect smoke or electrical burn.
  • All individuals are required to wear OSHA approved safety glasses with side shields, safety gowns, safety gloves and steel toe safety shoes. Additional personal protective equipment may be required in some work areas, where posted.
