Scientist I

Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to the following:
•    Serves as lead investigator, as appropriate, on sub-projects of complexities consistent with the criteria below. 
•    Independently performs most research assignments with guidance and instructions as to the data collection and general results expected; receives regular guidance on project tasks as well as needed for unusual or complex problems. 
•    Applies an analytical approach to a wide variety of problems; or applies specialized techniques to assist or lead in technical Application Development assignments.
•    Demonstrates and applies an understanding of scientific methods, research protocols, assessment instruments, and data interpretation. 
•    Designs, performs, and/or oversees experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance with the lab technical staff. 
•    Collects, analyzes, and interprets data; prepares statistical and narrative reports and/or graphs, as appropriate to the specific position; presents results and possible solutions to appropriate audiences.
•    Assist in communication and collaboration with Operations, Applications and Research Development, and Quality to meet project requirements and timelines.

Qualifications/Education/Special Skills
•    Must possess at minimum a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, material science, engineering, or similar. 
•    Good written and oral communication and presentation skills; Ability to communicate with varying internal and external audiences.
•    Strong interpersonal skills and openness in working in diverse, interdisciplinary teams. 
•    Ability and expectation to strategize project developments, develop and follow research methodology and protocols. 
•    Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. 
•    Serves as a SME in the chosen field of specialty which may include, but is not limited to: diffusion, extrusion, application of unique active materials, intellectual property, and regulatory guidance.
•    No prior industry experience is required.
