What You Will Do At Aptar Pharma:

The primary objective is to develop and advance that scientific expertise at Next Breath. This role ensures that Next Breath’s goals are met meeting our standards for scientific integrity in the final work product.  This individual in this dynamic role will represent scientific and regulatory aspects within the Next Breath organization and be a liaison between Next Breath and Aptar Pharma. The Director of Science and Technology shall support laboratory operations and provide technical support to business development.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide scientific leadership by acting as recognized expert within Next Breath, the Aptar Pharma community, and international scientific community
  • Support the Aptar Pharma Services organization and ensure a cross services communication for matters related to scientific and technology
  • Drive scientific publications, presentations and posters to communicate thought leadership and business development opportunities (e.g. Drug Delivery to the Lungs, Respiratory Drug Delivery, Parenteral Drug Association, etc.)
  • Support a culture of data driven results, continuous improvement and respect of timelines
  • Assist leadership with development of strategies to optimize laboratory procedures
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to facilitate decision making and risk management
  • Ensure, strengthen the application of harmonized standards, relevant SOPs
  • Train analysts on various laboratory techniques and theory
  • Interpret complex data and solve scientifically challenging problems by providing direction and leadership
  • Review technical documentation including documents for regulatory filings and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Support development of study protocols, test methods and study reports
  • Lead or participate in laboratory investigations
  • Make independent decisions within general guidelines and to work under minimal supervision.
  • Comply with all regulatory programs and guidelines -- Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)  and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Develop strategy for equipment maintenance, calibration, replacement and capital expenditure
  • Participate in internal and external kickoff meetings, project close-out and business review meetings
  • Attend important customer meetings and business review meetings and participate in regulatory inspections and audits as needed Assist sales team/business development in reviewing new and existing proposals
  • Scientific mentorship


What Aptar Pharma Is Looking For:

  • Advanced degree preferably in Life Sciences (Biochemistry/Pharmaceutical/ Biomedical) or related scientific field or equivalent experience.  (PhD preferred)
  • 10 or more years of experience working with industrial pharmaceutical aerosols
  • Experienced in GMP, validation, quality control and regulatory requirements
  • Comprehensive understanding of the aerosol theory and practice of analytical equipment.
  • Method development and validation experience using traditional and advanced analytical techniques including but not limited to HPLC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS, Spray Characterization and Aerosol Science
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proven ability to successfully work independently
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
  • Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proficiency with statistical software, e.g. JMP
  • Ability to manage multiple complex priorities and work under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Politically astute with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to expresses information and ideas in a manner that is appropriate, concise and accurate
  • Experience in scientific presentations
  • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions that lead to increased productivity
  • Read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to write highly complex analytical reports, routine business correspondence, and technical procedural instructions
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment,  take initiative and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and adhere to reporting deadline schedules
