Job Summary
Aptar Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for supporting and maintaining compliance with all Aptar and regulatory objectives, policies, and requirements. As a member of the EHS team, the EHS Manager will directly contribute to the creation of a world-class safety environment and assist in the reduction of the environmental impacts of operations across all Aptar North America facilities. This position reports to the Aptar Director of Operational Excellence – EHS, Quality, and CI, and will be based in either Mukwonago, WI or Cary, IL. This position can be part-time remote (two to three days per week home working). Travel up to 40%, primarily between Mukwonago and Cary, is expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute current EHS programs and activities, and work with all employees to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Guide and assist sites to report, monitor, and drive correction of environmental, health, and safety concerns.
- Guide and promote safe work performance by implementing proactive EHS systems, policies, and procedures; develop safety and environmental campaigns, communications, and recognitions in line with Division strategies.
- Determine training requirements and aid specific sites and departments in completing training. Conduct training for managers and employees.
- Implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems (Landfill Free, Eco-Efficiency program) and Safety Management Systems as required.
- Support legal compliance audits; write and update procedures, training, etc.
- Provide assistance and review all Aptar incident investigations, ensure corrective and preventive actions are appropriate, completed timely, and lessons learned communicated.
- Assist to ensure all EHS reporting is completed, including monthly reporting, customer prequalification forms, and other requested information.
- Implement and maintain loss prevention programs to achieve highly protected risk status.
- Assist sites to achieve environmental and safety goals.
- Coordinate all energy use, water use, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and waste generation reduction projects. Produce capital expenditure requests and present a business case for all projects.
- Report EHS performance metrics to measure performance progress and to evaluate EHS and loss prevention program effectiveness within Aptar North America.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel up to 40%.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Non-degreed candidates will not be considered.
Experience/Abilities
- Requires 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience, including EHS responsibilities in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations and requirements (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.).
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 EHS management systems preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing (any industry) is required.
- Knowledgeable in the technical fundamentals of safety management and risk assessments and reduction, including machinery and process safety, industrial hygiene, loss prevention, ergonomics and occupational health.
- Must have experience in the hands-on execution of an EHS plan or strategy.

- ASP or CSP a plus.
Other requirements
- Travel: up to 40% - primarily local between Mukwonago, WI and Cary, IL, with some regional travel also required
