What’s new with Aptar

We have an exciting position open in for a Production Planning & Scheduing Manager reporting to the Director, Production Planning/Scheduling Cary North. This position will be based onsite in Cary, IL. This position manages the closures Personal Care/Home Care planning and scheduling team.   Primary responsibilities include development and communication of a detailed production plan that ensures goals related to customer satisfaction and on time delivery, and operational goals such as inventory turns, and activity level are met or exceeded.  The role is also responsible for procurement of raw materials, components and finished goods.  You will utilize best practice and lean methodologies to drive cost effective processes that enable revenue growth.

 

This is how your journey begins

  • Using dependent and independent demand, create a production schedule that manages to manufacturing capacity constraints (human resources, equipment availability, budget) as well as delivery promise dates, lead time, working capital and inventory turn objectives.  Monitor performance to goal.
  • Responsible for tactical buying and order management of raw materials and components in support of manufacturing efficiency and customer commitments.
  • Establish weekly and monthly production priorities based on scheduling requirements, constraints, run rules and customer needs.
  • Coordinate and integrate sub-contractor schedules with the MPS.
  • Work with local site management to determine, within single or multi-plant production facilities, the most cost-efficient utilization of production resources for on time delivery and minimization of overall cost.
  • Minimize the unexpected by optimizing systems and procedures to delivery expected results.
  • Communicate daily with Customer Service and Operations to ensure the company is aligning production needs and performance with customer requirements and all supply concerns are addressed.
  • Utilize talent development and performance management process to build a strong, diverse team with forethought around succession planning.
  • Supervise, hire and train staff.
  • Define, measure and communicate key performance indicators and supportive metrics that track the effectiveness of production planning, scheduling and manufacturing execution.  Coordinate corrective actions, when needed, to drive metrics to target.
  • Participate in monthly S&OP process and work with the team to identify opportunities to balance workload and execute agreed upon plan.
  • Recommend and lead implementation of solutions to continually improve the planning and scheduling processes, reduce lead-time, maximize adherence to promise dates, and eliminate non-value activities.
  • Work with BPC and OE community to develop best practices.
  • Plan and coordinate the strategy for discontinued or obsolete inventory.
  • Provide analysis and modeling support for supply chain initiatives, including process optimizations and proposals

 

What you will bring on the journey

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with majors in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Marketing or Business Administration or equivalent experience as determined by management.
  • MBA preferred

Skills/Abilities/Experience

  • Five or more years’ experience Supply Chain experience.
  • Three or more years’ experience in planning or scheduling.
  • Experience in a closed loop ERP system environment
  • Ability to articulate the demand based on different business scenarios (launches, capacity expansion, etc.)
  • Ability to clearly explain financial impact of each scenario/recommendation.
  • Proficiency in ERP software, preferably SAP. 
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in fast paced environment
  • Must possess Intermediate or better PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite products and email programs such as Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in SAP preferred
  • ASCM CPIM certification
  • ASCM S&OP certificate
  • Experience developing a Master Production Schedule in a complex manufacturing setting.
  • Capacity requirements planning experience.
