Working Maintenance Supervisor

Hands-on working supervisor for facilities and machine maintenance staff of both molding plants.  Schedule, coordinate, and implement machine repairs, building repairs, and preventive maintenance work.  Coordinates repairs with production groups, internal staff and outside service vendors.  Monitors quality of work completed by maintenance mechanics and trains and develops staff to meet department and plant goals.  Suggest improvements on equipment to increase capability, capacity or cost savings through input for the mechanics and production personnel. Maintain high equipment availability by using Preventative, Predictive and Prescriptive standards which lead to meeting or exceeding production goals.  Coordinates/handles on-call situations as needed to support operations. Work in creation of tools (Apps) to capture data for the team.

  • Leads maintenance staff
  • Sets and coordinates assignment of work within the departments
  • Develops accurate costs and schedules for projects
  • Tracks work within the department to assure that assignments are completed on time
  • Works with outside vendors as required to assure parts are delivered on time and within budget
  • Provides technical support as needed to production and other departments within the company
  • Participates in the Quality Improvement Process including driving supplier feedback and delivery improvement
  • Executes work orders for general plant and manufacturing equipment in a timely fashion
  • Assists staff in a hands on role as needed within the departments
  • Completes staff reviews and provides additional feedback to Facilities Manager
  • Access computer records relating to preventative maintenance utilizing PC’s
  • Hands on technical training and training coordination
  • Continuous improvement to processes used for maintaining and recording of activities and reporting

Education

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED, Associate’s degree in Supervision/Manufacturing Management or related is preferred
    Experience
  • Five years as a maintenance, journeyman mechanic or similar position
  • Must have working knowledge of Injection Molding and 5 of the following areas: refrigeration, pneumatics, mechanical systems, HVAC systems, hydraulics, electrical, electronics
  • Must have working knowledge of electrical systems including single and 3 phase up to 480 volt
  • Training in safety and quality systems

  • Must be able to prioritize and manage time appropriately in a fast paced environment
  • Must possess good planning and budget management skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to climb ladders to access work areas
  • Must be able to read hydraulic, electrical and facility blueprints
  • Must provide own tools and toolbox
  • Must be able to run all general shop equipment related to the job
  • Must be able to hear warning signals and verbal alerts to avoid injury
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team, have high energy level and be able to work well under pressure
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English in order to communicate and understand relevant information relating to the job
  • Must be able to discern shades of color and color differences relating to machine and component parts
  • Must be willing to be certified on a forklift
  • Must possess basic PC skills such as Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Outlook
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must be able to work holidays, overtime and call-ins as needed
