What You Will Do At Aptar Pharma:

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Manufacturing Manager supporting all activities related to our Molding Unit and Assembly Unit. The primary mission of the Manufacturing Manager for Molding and Assembly is to lead the Molding team for both RX & CHC divisions, as well as the Assembly Department, utilizing your expertise in manufacturing in both Molding and Assembly.

 

It consists of managing the Molding Department:

  • The Tool Maker Team: 3 tools makers + 1 apprentice + 1 leader from the GTO (under the site director)
  • The Molding Engineer Team: 4 Engineers
  • 1 Manufacturing Supervisor on day shift
    • This supervisor is managing 12 Molding Process Technicians (3 per shift)

 

It consists of managing the Assembly UDSL-BDSL Unit sharing employees with the Rx-CHC Manager:

  • 4 supervisors (1 per shift) shared with RX and CHC
  • 1 Team Leader per shift reporting to UDSl-BDSL
  • 10 Operators per shift dedicated on UDSL-BDSL
  • 1 Supply Chain Technician dedicated to UDSL-BDSL
  • 1 Mechanical Supervisor (reporting to the Assembly Manager)
    • 2 Mechanics per shift

 

What Aptar Pharma Is Looking For:

  • Strive for customer satisfaction by manufacturing products in respect of company's quality, cost, and lead-times.
  • Deliver the planned budget of Manufacturing and the Productivity associated to your department by managing your key KPI’s such as:
    • OEE, % of scrap, Manufacturing Assembly Date for batch release, response time to close PIRs and NCR (Production Intervention Reports and Non-Conformity Report).
  • Complete production plan by establishing priorities, scheduling activities and employees, monitoring progress, and resolving problems.
  • Work in a Continuous loop of improvements and maintain the 5S in both Workshops (Molding and Assembly).
  • Manage the machines and molds availability for respecting Maintenance on Time (maintenance being performed by the technical department).
  • Evaluate and maintain the need of headcount for running equipment as planned.
  • Assess the annual need of trainings for your employees to improve their knowledge.
  • Oversee tooling department engineers and technicians to resolve technical issues.
  • Respect the quality control procedures and participate in internal quality control audits.
  • Pilot and oversee the key validations in your departments and escalade hot topics.
  • Analyze the Injection Molding machine capacity for the current and new programs.
  • Annually assess the need of validations to secure back up plan on Molding.
  • Maintain, update the Molding Maintenance Plan on Molding for Presses, Molds, screws & barrels, peripherals, Robots.
  • Assess the Molding actions to improve productivity on the Time cycle (Robot and Molding).
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing Molding and Assembly budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, compiling, and reviewing costs and initiating corrective actions.
  • Prepare the Monthly reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Organize required training (internal and external) for staff, ensuring all safety rules and regulations are respected (OSHA, etc.).
  • Work to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action.
  • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. 
  • Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
  • Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives.
  • Use the tools available (from OE group) to manage your performance on both departments such as Kaizen, SMED , TPM, 5S, Hoshin Kanri, QRQC …
  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement projects following World Class Manufacturing guidelines.
  • Initiate plans and processes, which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of labor, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
  • Create and implement standard operating procedures for production operations and develop the visual management in both departments.

 

What you will bring to the journey:

Education:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. Engineering, Manufacturing).


Experience:
 

  • 5 years’ experience managing a Production and Manufacturing team within the Pharmaceutical Industrial Manufacturing, Packaging or Biomedical Industries.
  • Certification preferred in one or more of the following: Lean, Six sigma, APICS (or equivalent) is a plus.
     

Skills:
 

  • Knowledge of SAP or other similar ERP systems
  • Strong philosophy and discipline of safety practices, good housekeeping.
  • Management and Leadership skills: able to successfully communicate, influence staff objectives, vision and policies and priorities.
  • Proven organizational skills developing effective workflow processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensures activities are handled correctly and completed in a timely manner, rigorous with follow-up.
  • Capable of analyzing and solving problems through innovative thought and think strategically.
  • Continual improvement mindset. Self-Learner, trend of continuous learning.
  • Resourceful, creative problem solver, self-motivated
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with people at various levels of the organization effectively.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multitask in a fast-paced environment being proactive and resourceful.

Compensation and Base Annual Pay

Aptar Pharma offers a competitive total rewards package including base salary or base hourly rate determined by many factors including the role, experience, knowledge, skill set and location. For those in eligible roles, discretionary incentive compensation which may be awarded in recognition of individual achievements and contributions.

 

The typical base annual salary range for the position of Manufacturing Manager to the specific work location of: New York City metropolitan region is USD $123,000 to $167,000 per year.  Additional details about total compensation and benefits are provided during the hiring process.
