Senior Tax Manager, Income Tax Accounting

Position Summary

 

Reporting to the Director of Tax, this position will oversee and manage all aspects of US GAAP income tax accounting for the company and its subsidiaries.  Key responsibilities include managing the accurate preparation of the quarterly and annual consolidated and separate income tax provisions for Aptar and its subsidiaries, managing internal control steps/processes with respect to income tax accounting, researching Aptar’s income tax accounting positions, tax rate projections, tax accounts reconciliations and related income tax disclosures in Aptar’s quarterly and annual filings.  Participating and managing certain aspects of Aptar’s US federal and state income tax compliance including US R&D tax credits study is also part of the responsibility.

 

Job Elements & Position Responsibilities

  • Manage the quarterly and annual global income tax provision, including tax related disclosures
  • Maintain controls, act as control owner as applicable, and ensure the operational effectiveness of control steps/control environment related to income tax accounting
  • Review Uncertain Tax Positions (UTP) analysis and ensure accurate accounting and disclosure within financial statements and tax footnotes
  •  Communicate and interact with Aptar’s financial statement auditor, ensure the accuracy and timeliness of deliverables to the auditor; act as liaison between Aptar’s management and the auditor with respect to income tax reporting.
  • Oversee the implementation, maintenance and automation of systems used in the tax provision process
  • Research tax law changes, regulations, and relevant accounting guidance; determine income tax accounting impacts and provide guidance to management on income tax accounting implications
  • Support tax planning regarding the tax accounting impacts associated with significant business transactions
  • Assists in identifying and developing tax planning opportunities including modeling of financial statement impact
  • Supervise and mentor tax team members; provide income tax accounting related trainings as needed
  • Participate and manage certain aspects of US federal and state income tax compliance

 

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years previous related tax experience in multi-national environment, with a focus on income tax accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required, Master’s in Taxation preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ASC 740, US federal, state, and local income tax laws in addition to an understanding of Statutory Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Strong track record of positive impacts to an organization’s income tax accounting process
  • Ability to analyze processes and recommend modifications with a strong continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and managing competing priorities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Foreign language skills a strong plus
  • Travel requirement: occasional  (domestic and international)
