The Product Development Coordinator is responsible for several deliverables across the product development lifecycle, including formula and packaging development, project tracking, and launch support. The role will support our turnkey division, FusionPKG BeautyLab, bringing to market full-service creative and innovative beauty solutions to existing and new customers. 

 

This role will work closely with our customers and internal teams such as Sales, Product Innovation, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, and Operations teams to ensure project launches are successful. Additionally, this role will project manage through the project lifecycle and milestones overseeing customer programs from receipt of brief, alignment of project key deliverables with the customer, product submission plan, pricing, timelines, customer status calls, quality and compliance oversight. The right candidate will be able to oversee many projects for our customers—a diverse mix of beauty brands that vary in complexity and formula type (skincare or color). The Product Development Coordinator is responsible for sharing the current project status with the internal team during the weekly internal project meeting for their brand allocation in a concise and organized manner. 

 

A key to this role’s success is the ability to project manage like a pro—coordinate and deliver projects on time and within TCOGs. This role is vital to engaging with our customers—beauty brands—and helping them execute their NPD needs. This role will work on a variety of beauty product development projects with a varied mix of customers and levels of complexity. The ability to engage with other product developers and problem-solve is vital.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all facets of developing skincare and color cosmetics products for our customers—from library formula offerings to managing custom development.
  • Ability to cultivate and manage relationships with our partners and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to deliver on project objectives.
  • Work with Formula Asset to brief our lab and provide feedback and redirects on submissions.
  • Develop & track project timelines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track and organize lab submissions and product testing feedback; Label and file submissions according to the lab, pilot, and production.
  • Coordinate testing samples & request testing reports with our Quality Team.
  • Assist with the development of customer support materials and marketing materials.
  • Attend customer meetings to support the presentation of new formulas, concepts, and trends; follow up meeting agenda items and support the sales team in various sales support functions, recap meetings, pull samples, white space analysis, etc.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the existing products, closely reviewing formula or shade, packaging, and overall quality/aesthetic, Support trade show presentation through knowledge of products and formula details.
  • Compliance: Assist in collecting/receiving mandatory compliance and regulatory documents for foreign countries
  • Assist in planning, attending, and representing FusionPKG BeautyLab at customer meetings, industry trade shows, and beauty industry events.
  • Produce and present formula proposals to customers demonstrating our ability to offer creative solutions-based programs.
  • Work closely with customers throughout a project’s life cycle; Troubleshoot and respond appropriately to customer issues.
  • Responsible for the appropriate and timely completion of customer correspondence and sampling and quote requests
  • Drive the customer quote request process (preliminary and final)
  • Responsible for the appropriate and timely completion of administrative tasks as requested. 
  • Utilize Salesforce to track projects.
  • Participate in product training and development programs.
  • Lead or participate in other assigned projects.
  • Provide market feedback to steer new innovative product offerings. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Product Development, Design, Marketing, or related fields from an accredited college or university is strongly desired.
  • Six months to a year of skincare and color cosmetics product development experience, OTC experience a plus
  • A strong aptitude and passion for the beauty industry, beauty products, skin health and artistry
  • Prior Project Management and time tracking experience strongly desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Ability to travel to area labs, trade shows, and to Fusion’s offices.
  • Previous understanding of developing packaging and formula
  • Can be based anywhere in the US, but preferably on the East Coast
