Job Title: Controlling Manager – Aptar Dortmund and Menden

 

Job Summary:

The Operational Controller is responsible for supervising the operational performance in the manufacturing site under his responsibility. He/She measures and analyzes the activity in terms of manufacturing, costs, budgeting and forecasting performance. He/She is responsible for the compliance to the AptarGroup policy in terms of performance measurement and reporting, standard costing and cost reporting. He needs to assure the integrity of US GAAP financial information.

He/She is a key member of the Site Management Committee

He/She is a Business partner with Operations to support decision through financial analysis and budgetary oversight of the manufacturing. All described activities must follow Corporate/Segment and Regional guidance and must be harmonized with the comparable functions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with AptarGroup policies at global, segment, regional, and local levels
  • Safeguard company assets through effective property accounting, equipment control, and document retention
  • Review and monitor capital expenditures for financial impact, budget alignment, and strategic fit
  • Lead monthly closings, forecasting, risk & opportunity assessments, and quarterly reporting
  • Analyze site performance using defined KPIs and analytical P&L
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with site leadership and regional teams
  • Identify underperforming areas and develop corrective action plans
  • Drive cost-saving and efficiency initiatives (BIM), involving cross-functional teams where applicable
  • Support working capital improvement efforts
  • Monitor and analyze fixed and variable cost developments (COS Expenses)
  • Calculate product costing in line with AptarGroup policies and track standard profitability
  • Conduct Make-or-Buy analyses to support strategic decision-making
  • Actively contribute to local management teams and strategic planning
  • Oversee all investment projects in Dortmund and Menden, ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Provide financial support and strategic partnership to the Senior Project Manager
  • Collaborate closely with the Operations Director, offering financial insights and guidance
  • Deliver forecasts and actionable recommendations to support future strategic directions

 

Desired Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Economics (Master’s degree strongly preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in finance within a multinational industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of finance, controlling, and internal controls
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills
  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural environment
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Solid understanding of information systems, especially SAP (MM, FICO), and strong computer literacy
