Job Description & Summary

 

Position Summary

Provides quality support to manufacturing by performing and coordinating inspection, containment, investigation and training activities.   Performs quality lab related duties (metrology, function testing and dimensional inspections).  Assist sub-plant employees in troubleshooting quality issues.  Responsible for product safety and quality.

 

Job Elements & Position Responsibilities

  • Performs random audits on systems, procedures, and product
  • Performs functional testing of product and metrology on components
  • Assists manufacturing employees and management with backtracking and troubleshooting quality-related issues.
  • Participates in sub plant problem solving efforts and activities (CAPA, A3, 8D, etc)
  • Performs Certificate of Analysis (COA) testing of finished product as required
  • Approves COA and coordinates communication with customers
  • Supports and coordinates calibration activities
  • Investigates complaints received and reports finding to the appropriate parties
  • Performs backtracking on quality issues
  • Update and maintain procedures, work instructions and defect libraries as document control coordinator.
  • Provides quality related training to molding Operators and Technicians
  • Enters, closes and makes user decisions on Quality Notifications
  • Serves as a backup when needed for other quality functions
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Must possess High School diploma or GED

Experience

  • 3-5 years as Quality Technician or similar role
  • Must possess basic math skills
  • Must be able to read drawings and use quality related test equipment
  • Must be able to stand (30%) and walk (50%) for a portion of the shift
  • Must be able to lift/move up to approximately 10 pounds (up to 30% of the shift), reach above shoulder and bend (5% of the shift).  Must be able to periodically handle finished goods boxes weighing up to 35 lbs (5% of shift).
  • Must be able to scoop component part weighing approximately 1 pound
  • Must have good vision in order to perform visual inspection duties
  • Must be able to hear warning signals and verbal alerts to avoid injury during manufacturing process
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team, have high energy level and be able to work well under pressure
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English in order to communicate and understand relevant information relating to quality and production issues
  • Must be able to discern shades of color and color differences relating to component parts used in the manufacturing process
  • Must be able to climb steps
  • Must be able to use and read various inspection gages
  • Must have PC skills such as Microsoft Excel, Word and electronic mail software
