Position Summary

We have an interesting position open: Engineering Manager, reports to the Industrial Manager. This position will be based in our Site Closures in Querétaro.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering teams in planning and executing boost projects for product and process improvements.
  • Manage modifications to existing molds, processes, and products, including dimensional adjustments, color changes, resins, and cycle time optimization.
  • Oversee plant layout design and ensure efficient material and workflow organization.
  • Review and validate bills of materials for accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
  • Define technical requirements for new presses and auxiliary equipment to support production needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with operational goals and customer expectations.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS standards and company policies in all engineering activities.
  • Develop and mentor engineering team members, fostering technical expertise and innovation.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in alignment with client requirements and business goals.
  • Approve and supervise project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (Design, Industrialization, Quality, Finance, Marketing, Sales) to ensure project success.
  • Lead technical negotiations and manage relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, FSSC 22000, LANDFILL FREE).
  • Promote innovation and the application of new technologies to improve products and processes.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators, implementing actions for continuous improvement.
  • Support the professional development of team members through coaching and training.
  • Represent the engineering department in strategic meetings with clients, Aptar Globan teams and partners.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Plastics, Packaging, or related fields).
  • Postgraduate degree or MBA in Project Management, Business Administration, or related areas preferred.
  • PMI or similar project management certification is valued.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably in packaging injection
  • Proven experience managing projects focused on product and process modifications and improvements.
  • Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken).
  • knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Solid understanding of budget management, risk analysis, and technical feasibility studies.

  • Project time management, preferably on MS Project or Planisware; advanced skills.

  • Project procurement management; advanced skills.
  • Quality tools and techniques (6 Sigma, CEP, FMEA, Ishikawa, etc.); intermediate knowledge.

 

 

Frequency of travel: Yes, according to the projects and based on a yearly avg. 50%
