Position Summary:

The Electrical Technician will be responsible for performing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on injection and compression molding machines, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime. The role includes maintaining auxiliary equipment. Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the technician will collaborate with the maintenance team to uphold equipment reliability and efficiency. 

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Receives instructions from the Electrical Supervisor regarding tasks and priorities.
  • Completes all work following established procedures and ensures all spare parts are functional and available.
  • Continuously reviews items that require repair, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems in injection molding machines.
  • Repairs equipment on the shop floor or in the tool shop as quickly as possible to prevent production stoppages.
  • Ensure all required documentation is correctly completed and that the maintenance database is updated at the start or end of the shift.
  • Responds to breakdowns swiftly to minimize downtime, seeking assistance from the Maintenance department or Electrical Supervisor, when necessary, while recording all incidents in the maintenance database.
  • Performs process troubleshooting and equipment modifications under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor.
  • Coordinates with the Maintenance department to ensure all relevant electrical components are included during service, based on the Gulf Closures Maintenance Plan.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area, ensuring spills are addressed immediately.
  • Reports any equipment issues that could impact production efficiency.
  • Reports unresolved breakdowns due to missing spare parts or unavailable equipment.
  • Actively seeks improvements in equipment or procedures, particularly in injection molding process optimization.
  • Immediately reports any safety hazards or violations, particularly those related to electrical safety.
  • Must be willing to work beyond standard shift hours when required, as the plant operates continuously.
  • Works safely at all times, ensuring personal and team safety, while promptly reporting any safety concerns.
  • Ensures all parts withdrawn from inventory are properly recorded and signed for on the MID note.
  • Undertakes any other reasonable tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the department.

Preferred:

  • Understanding of electrical electronics, electromechanics, hydro-pneumatics, mechanics, and industrial automation (internal/external).
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming, particularly for injection molding automation.
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical measurements.
  • Experience with process troubleshooting in injection molding.
  • Familiarity with ISO certification standards for documentation and process control.

 

Required Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma in electrical technical certification.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming, particularly for injection molding automation.
  • Knowledge of electrical diagrams, basic mechanical principles, troubleshooting skills, computer literacy, initiative, and the ability to find rapid solutions to minimize equipment downtime.
