Job Opening: EHS Coordinator

We have an exciting open position at Aptar Bahrain: EHS Coordinator reporting to the QEHS Manager. This position is based in Bahrain Gulf Closures (Aptar Bahrain).

 

Main Function:

  • Ensure compliance with Gulf Closures’ Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and standards.
  • Maintain and oversee established EHS procedures to create a safe and sustainable work environment.
  • Document and address all non-conformities in line with organizational policies.

Main Duties:

  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with EHS standards, including adherence to ISO protocols.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors to identify and resolve safety and environmental challenges.
  • Maintain the functionality and calibration of measuring and inspection equipment related to EHS tasks.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials, providing employees with access to safety data sheets.
  • Promote good housekeeping practices and ensure mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Train employees on EHS procedures, ensuring their understanding and compliance with policies.
  • Investigate incidents related to safety and environment, ensuring effective resolution and documentation.
  • Support waste minimization, pollution prevention, and energy conservation initiatives.
  • Keep accurate records and reports on EHS-related incidents, activities, and compliance status.
  • Act as the liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring the organization meets all legal requirements.

EHS Roles & Responsibilities:

 

  • Take reasonable care of personal and team health and safety.
  • Ensure all personnel are aware of potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and use formal inspections as a tool for safety success.
  • Ensure correct use, condition, and availability of PPE.
  • Highlight procedural safety issues to management and actively participate in safety plan development.

Environmental Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing environmental objectives and goals.
  • Monitor and report environmental incidents and compliance issues to management.
  • Conduct periodic inspections to ensure the facility adheres to environmental standards.
  • Actively support environmental management systems and control processes.

Qualifications:

  • A diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, or Safety Management, or equivalent experience.
  • NEBOSH certification or similar professional EHS qualification is highly desirable.
