The Director of Operations is responsible for the direction, strategy, planning and execution of the Food and Beverage plant’s manufacturing quality and continuous improvement operations in the region.  The primary mission is to assure commitments to customers are met by providing high quality products, on-time and to meet service requirements such as delivery dates, quantities and costs utilizing available resources.  This position is also responsible for creating and driving improvements, cost reductions and integration.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Establish manufacturing strategy, goals and annual objectives in coordination with the Segment President to drive business growth and effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution.  Define target and control procedures.
  • Make continuous improvement a standard process at the location with special attention to Safety, 5S, visual management, and Gemba walks.
  • Ensure quality of product, production procedures and service, in coherence with Aptar policies and rules.
  • Effectively monitor and where appropriate, establish or re-invigorate meaningful metrics culture to maximize the positive impact on profit.
  • Develop a strong bench at every level, which is capable of growing with the organization.  This involves recruiting, engaging, training, development and retaining.
  • Ensure the sub-contractors are used effectively to handle the demands of the business.
  • Ensure the safety of all employees and be in full compliance with all state and federal government requirements.
  • Provide an environment within the plant that is clean, comfortable, and efficient for product manufacturing, and customer requirements.
  • Working Knowledge of SQF and GMP procedures.

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of supervisory and direct manufacturing experience.
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in injection molding or blow molding operations.    
  • Demonstrated job history of increasing responsibility to manage multiple functions.
  • The successful candidate will have over 10 years of manufacturing experience, with a proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within “best in class” companies.  He/she will have spent the past five years (minimum) leading manufacturing.
  • The successful candidate will also possess a strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with manufacturing in a high volume/high mix environment, preferably with engineered products in plastics.
