What’s new with Aptar
We have an exciting position open for a Press Technician. Press Maintenance will oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of industrial equipment, mainly injection molding presses. As Press Maintenance, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and equipment. This will include installing new equipment, performing regular preventive maintenance services, and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.
To ensure success as a Press Maintenance Technician, you should have advanced mechanical knowledge of industrial machinery, excellent troubleshooting skills, and good time management skills. Ultimately, a top-class Press Maintenance Technician boosts production by ensuring all production equipment functions correctly and receives regular maintenance.
This is how your journey begins:
- Reading and interpreting electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical blueprints.
- Help develop/improve preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Installing new production equipment.
- Servicing and maintaining equipment including plastic molding presses, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, and production-related equipment.
- Inspecting and assessing the functionality of production machines.
- Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
- Perform advanced technical repairs to restore machine health and oversee major maintenance work on press equipment as needed to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: production, quality, and engineering, to identify and resolve press equipment-related issues.
- Fabricating parts for repairs and machine upgrades.
- Conducting routine maintenance and safety checks.
- Design and implement basic modifications to resolve machine problems. · Dismantle, inspect and overhaul equipment, as required by preventive maintenance program and production schedules.
- Document repairs, maintenance activities & quality checks.
- Perform daily systems checks to verify all quality checks are working properly.
- Perform required housekeeping, keeping all Secondary Operations storage areas organized.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance and repair activities.
- Communicating with the production team and maintaining a clean work area.
- Preparing and submitting maintenance reports.
- Perform all other duties assigned
What you will bring on the journey
- High school diploma or equivalent
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
- Knowledge of Injection molding press systems is a plus (Husky, Milacron and Krause)
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments such as a scale, micrometer, and caliper for this work.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Good time-management skills.
- Good communication skills
- Basic computer operation skills with current software operating systems and programs.
- This position requires the ability to stand for the entire shift, as well as constant mobility daily. Additionally, this position requires ability to move within/between departments and facilities.
- This position requires the ability to review items closely and have color recognition.
- This position requires pushing, pulling, lifting, moving and/or carrying up to 75 pounds.
- This position requires the ability to twist and bend to reach into awkward spaces.
- Working Knowledge of SQF and GMP procedures.
