Aptar is seeking a Shift Manager in Training based in Lincolnton, NC. This role is fulltime with onsite presence required. 

 

Primary Purpose Summary

The Shift Manager in Training (SMIT) supports the Shift Manager with daily operations while undergoing hands-on training to develop skills for career advancement and future transition into a Shift Manager role. Although the SMIT won't have a designated shift of their own, they will assist other Shift Managers as needed and may temporarily cover shifts during managerial absences as part of their development. SMITs will operate with limited independence that corresponds with their level of leadership skills and abilities as they train.

Detailed Description:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

 

• Builds and strengthens a cohesive team by upholding Aptar’s core values and demonstrating the company's leadership principles.

• Cultivates a safety-first mindset within the team.

• Engages in coaching, counseling, and employee disciplinary actions under the guidance of the Shift Manager, while assisting in the initiation, coordination, and enforcement of systems, policies, and procedures.

• Promotes collaboration across departments on the production floor, fostering a cooperative environment.

• Participates in employee orientation, training, and mentorship to support personal and professional growth.

• Contributes to achieving production goals by clearly communicating expectations, planning effectively, monitoring progress, and evaluating performance.

• Supports workflow efficiency by tracking each stage of the process, setting and starting molds, allocating personnel and resources, analyzing methods, identifying cost and time-saving measures, and developing reporting procedures.

• Assists in scheduling production plans, assigning staff, prioritizing tasks, monitoring progress, revising plans, solving issues, and reporting on shift performance to meet or exceed KPIs.

• Ensures high-quality service by upholding organizational standards.

• Helps maintain equipment functionality through monitoring, assessment, and necessary repairs, while also evaluating new equipment, techniques, and processes.

• Problem-solves based on data-driven insights, making informed decisions where appropriate.

• Promotes a safe, clean workspace by educating team members on proper equipment usage and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.

• Establishes accountability within the team across all job responsibilities.

• Addresses personnel issues by investigating concerns promptly, exploring solutions, and recommending suitable actions.

• Enhances professional expertise by attending workshops, reviewing industry publications, networking, and benchmarking cutting-edge practices.

• Offers flexibility to cover shifts on short notice, including days, nights, and weekends, to accommodate management absences.

• Stays prepared to travel on short notice for company-related needs.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 consecutive years of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.

• Strong communication abilities.

• Effective prioritization and time management skills.

• Consistent and exemplary attendance record.

• Dependable with a strong sense of accountability and commitment to follow-through.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma

• Relevant College Degree preferred but not required
