SUMMARY:

The Automation Supervisor is a key member of the technical leadership team at the Mukwonago facility.  This position manages a group of hourly Automation Technicians. This role is responsible for ensuring that all automated manufacturing equipment, packaging equipment, facility conveyor systems and autonomous guided vehicles are fully operational and reliable in order to support the conversion of raw materials to finished product, while adhering to schedule, rate of production and all quality specifications.  Key responsibilities of the position include managing engineering/controls projects, new product/equipment launches, troubleshooting complex controls and equipment issues and management of preventive maintenance for all automated equipment and systems.

 

This position will be involved primarily with various projects to improve employee safety, product quality, process efficiency/cost reduction, facility improvements as well as employee morale.  This role is a senior level position that will have the opportunity to support, lead and manage capital projects in the areas of processing and packaging equipment as well as facilities and plant utilities. 

 

This position not only manages others, but, as noted above, is also responsible for managing technical projects and serving as a resource for any and all automated equipment issues across the plant.  The Automation Supervisor will be responsible for managing controls obsolescence and energy management for the site as well as providing input to specific areas of the engineering budget. 

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide order, structure and direct all activities within the Automation group.
  • Responsible for the set-up of closing and assembly equipment to support manufacturing. 
  • This would include:  closing machines, assembly machines, lining machines, conveyance equipment, vision systems, and any other related equipment.
  • Handle all personnel issues within the group, staffing, training, discipline, as well as all reviews.
  • Provide coaching and opportunities for development of Automation Technicians to enhance their skills to better support production’s needs.
  • Direct machine setup, repair to equipment, preventative maintenance and enhancements to meet or exceed expected rates. 
  • Troubleshoot secondary equipment problems and assign appropriate technical help.
  • Communicate to other departments the status of machines and their condition. 
  • Work closely with production personnel and provide any needed support to achieve business objectives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • 5 years of Automation experience.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Basic skills in reading, writing and math.
  • High School diploma.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be willing to have flexible work hours.
