North America Category Manager, Contract Molders & Decorator

Location: partial onsite in Mukwonago, WI or Cary, IL, and partial remote work

Reports to: Purchasing Director

 

Job Description & Summary

 

Position Summary

This role is responsible for the development, execution, and management of the NA Contract Molders and Decorator strategy.  The Category Manager performs sourcing, and purchasing duties in the selection and management of outside molders and decorators.  Other duties and sub-categories may be assigned as required by business demands.

The Category Manager establishes and implements a sourcing model for North America and will drive cost reductions through the organization and will be accountable to achieve savings.   Position will work in a collaborative environment across all business segments alongside Operations, Engineering, and Finance to deliver a competitive advantage and cost savings to the organization. The position will have responsibilities for developing, implementing and communicating sourcing strategies, cost reduction initiatives delivering year-over-year savings, mitigating inflationary and cost increases, material cost forecasting including supporting the budget process and validating standard costs, contract negotiations, driving standardization of procurement processes and procedures, change management, supplier selection and supplier relationship management.  This role will execute negotiation tactics that are aligned with the business strategy and craft and execute contracts to support. 

Job Elements & Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible as the North American leader for sourcing and managing Contract Molders and outside Decorators to meet the business requirements and established KPIs.
  • Provides leadership, expertise, and sourcing and contract expertise to the business, within designated field, and interacts with internal and external customers.
  • Develops ideas and implements strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and ensure suppliers are working on strategies in support of continuous improvement. 
  • Works collaboratively with business, globally as required, to create a strategic vision for the department as well as driving purchasing synergies to achieve cost savings across all business units and segments.
  • Manage linkage to Business Unit Procurement activities to standardize and optimize leverage opportunities.
  • Leads negotiation efforts on purchase agreements and supplier contracts with a bias for achievement of quality, delivery, cost containment, enhanced payment terms and process improvement.
  • Initiates and implements risk management strategies and ensures supply continuity.
  • Establishes low cost sourcing and alternative supplier sources.
  • Creates and implements feedback mechanisms to determine customer satisfaction levels; responds to issues and concerns and collaborates with teams in managing supplier relationships.
  • Designs comparison models for index based contracts.
  • Conducts complex market and internal data analysis to ensure suppler performance.
  • Properly report progress of initiatives and work to resolve internal roadblocks and follow internal escalation procedures when necessary to ensure targeted savings are achieved.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with majors in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration/Management preferred or equivalent experience as determined by management.
  • Advanced degree/ MBA are ideal.
  • CPM or APICS or Green or Black belt Certification a plus

 

Experience

  • 8+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing, plant procurement, project management, or supply chain management.
  • Prior experience working within the injection molding sector, including demonstrated understanding of costing models.
  • Familiarity with a variety of pellet resins and how they are matched to the mold fleet.
  • Contract and Project Management.

 

Skills

  • Excellent financial analysis and strong negotiation skills
  • Expertise in strategic sourcing and contract/project/supply chain management. 
  • Able to build strong relationships across company personnel as well as suppliers. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organization including executive leadership and plant operations personnel.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to facilitate projects/initiatives. 
  • Ability to manage change effectively.
  • Organizational skills with strong problem solving ability.
  • Keen attention to details and accuracy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • SAP and Ariba knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages or multiple country experiences are a plus.
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in fast paced environment
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
