Position Summary

The Project Engineer’s role is an integral part of the project execution process and forms an integral link between all departments, procedures & resources involved in its success. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Industrialization and Engineering the Project Engineer’s primary responsibility is to lead, drive, and manage all applicable engineering and technical aspects associated with the Product Development Process, Continuous Improvement initiatives, and necessary production/manufacturing support/problem solving. The Product Development Process includes (but not limited to) the specification, ordering, development, qualification, installation, validation & production ramp-up of injection molds that are designed for the high speed, mass-volume production, and assembly of high-quality dispensing closure systems. This process requires the position to apply all internal standards, procedures, and activity necessary for effective project execution.

 

Job Elements & Position Responsibilities


•    Drive the specification, quotation, engineering and procurement process for molds and auxiliary equipment through cell approval.
•    Managing and coordinating purchase requisitions, project documentation, sampling, and data review process.
•    Leading, coordinating, managing and supervising the delivery and sampling of new molds, and supporting the integration of EOT, robotics and assembly equipment.
•    Properly execute equipment validation protocols with IQOQPQ procedures
•    Driving and supporting the Product Development process to ensure Stage Gate progression.
•    Support ISO efforts by complying with ISO documentation procedure.
•    Seek and develop new technology advancements that will help gain a competitive edge.
•    Engage in the process of product design validation, through the use of prototyping, process development & materials selection.
•    Project management proficiencies: Ability to work well with a team or multiple teams, clear communication, and updates on project status.
•    Vendor management skills, creative thinking and troubleshooting mindset to keep projects on track.
•    Project management proficiency and vendor management skills.
•    Explore, assess, and initiate project engineering process across multiple technical disciplines. Leverage engineering process knowledge to seek the required expertise internally and externally to drive technical solutions.
•    Provide support to Manufacturing (molding rooms) and the Toolroom, for both the operations center and outside molders.
•    Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement Projects.
•    All other duties as assigned.
•    Travel: Domestic and global up to 35% 

 

Required Qualifications

 

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Plastics, Rigid Packaging or related technology with minimum of 5 years of experience.
•    Or Two-year Engineering Associate’s degree or equivalent considered with a minimum of 8 years of injection molding experience.
•    Understanding and expertise in Injection Molding Tool Build, Plastics Processing and Mold Qualification.
•    Basic understanding of statistics & experience in its application for data analysis.
•    Ability to use CAD software (i.e. Creo, Solidworks).
