Noble is a patient-centric global leader in medical device training solutions with expertise in human factors engineering, market insights, and device design & engineering to develop, manufacture and commercialize robust training solutions for patients who self-administer drug therapies. Noble’s training solutions encompass drug delivery training devices that mimic the exact feel, force, and function of the real drug delivery device on which it is modeled, and include autoinjectors, prefilled syringes, nasal devices, and pulmonary devices.

As a Design & Engineering Intern you will provides support to the Design and Engineering team in the design and manufacturing of drug delivery demonstration devices and accessories.  The intern will shadow one or more engineers to become familiar with the day-to-day activities and provide support as applicable.  The intern may have the opportunity to use the lab equipment, including various 3D printers, 3D scanner, spectrophotometer for color measurement, and an Instron force measurement machine. 

 

What you Will Do at Noble!

  • Assist Noble engineers to design and build proof-of-concept, usability testing, and showcase prototypes utilizing 3D printing equipment in on-site lab.
  • Qualify design through analytical tools such as stress analysis, tolerance stack analysis, and force measurement testing using on-site engineering lab equipment.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of product design files and design history files.
  • Generate dimensioned drawings of 3D CAD models.
  • Support the organization of the Noble product portfolio through collecting information from various sources and re-organizing it in a database.

 

What Noble is looking for!

  • Minimum two years of post-secondary education towards degree in Engineering
  • Experience using MS Office applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience building tables, charts, sorting, filtering, formatting
  • Experience with 3D CAD software
  • Experience in successful project management including defining projects, scheduling, costing, work-load balancing, and task prioritization.

Preferred Experience a plus

  • Experience generating engineering drawings based on 3D CAD with dimensioning and tolerancing
  • MS Excel experience using VLOOKUP function and building pivot tables
  • Experience using a PLM (product lifecycle management) application
  • Experience in machine design

Travel Requirements

  • Travel to the office at least 40% of the time

 

What are the physical demands and work environment?

  • Mental- Requires a relatively high degree of concentration intermittently to compile reports and analyze data approximately 50% of time; periods of mental effort and concentration followed by other aspects of the job with lesser concentration and attention requirements.
  • Physical- Requires walking/standing approximately 20%, sitting approximately 80% and lifting up to 15 lbs. approximately 1% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 10% of time.
  • Manual Dexterity- Requires use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate computers, copy machine and other general office equipment and to record written information.
  • Audible Demands- Requires ability to hear verbal instructions and to communicate with internal departments and outside sources in person and via telephone.
  • Visual Demands -Requires ability to read written instructions, correspondence and other documentation as well as operate office equipment such as computers and printers.  Color and depth perception not necessary
  • Environmental- Requires capability of performing essential job functions in an established office environment under lighting and climate control tolerances.  Noise level is moderate.
