Expectations for Success
Commercialization Engineering Intern Location: Paramus, NJ (with frequent travel to contract manufacturers in the area) reporting to: Sr Quality Engineering Manager.

As a Commercialization Intern, you will play a key role in bringing innovative beauty products to market and contribute to the continued success of our company. Duties and Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the R&D and product development teams to understand and grasp the technical aspects of new cosmetic formulations and products.
2. Assist the engineering team in coordinating, performing, and managing all aspects of the commercialization process, from concept to production, ensuring the successful launch of new cosmetic products and ongoing production.
3. Conduct visits to contract manufacturers' facilities, located both locally and nationally, to oversee the production process and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
4. Act as a liaison between our company and contract manufacturers, fostering strong working relationships, and ensuring effective communication throughout the production cycle.
5. Prepare testing reports, production reports, and a summary of hurdles for each project once they are closed out.
6. Monitor and track production timelines, reporting any deviations or delays to the Sr Quality Engineering Manager promptly, and collaborating with the manufacturing team to find solutions.
7. Participate in product testing and validation procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of cosmetics products during the commercialization phase.
8. Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities, providing valuable insights to support the commercialization process.
9. Assist in the development and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the commercialization process to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
10. Proactively identify potential risks and challenges in the commercialization process, proposing viable solutions to mitigate any issues.
Competencies for Success
1. Driver’s License and car with the ability to drive to facilities ranging from 15 minutes to 2 hours.
2. Currently pursuing or completing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
3. Completed an internship with a cosmetics, food, or personal care company.
4. Strong interest in the cosmetics industry and knowledge of cosmetic formulation and manufacturing processes.
5. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
6. Willingness to travel to contract manufacturers' facilities for production oversight (approximately 60% of the time).
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
8. Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards throughout the commercialization process.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and any relevant technical software such as Solidworks, ProE, PLMStackBuilder, CAPE, etc.
10. Ability to work independently and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving.
11. Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic nature of the cosmetics industry and changing project requirements.
